Photobook Conversations #3 'Portrait'

Thanks to all who braved the rain, and the traffic, to attend the Photobook Discussion on Thursday, once again it was an enjoyable and insightful evening.

The gloves were off as we (well, at least one of us) enjoyed getting his hands on the books.

We looked at four fabulous books and spoke about the connection between photographer and subject, which in each book, was formed over many years. Actually, ranging from seven to eighteen years.

We also discussed how the edit and design of photobooks are essential elements when communicating a story to each viewer, and how each artist helped us to connect with the person whose portrait we were reading.

Each of the books made us reflect upon the life struggles, which may be unseen to many of us, but others have to battle with. We were left with lots to contemplate.

That’s it for 2018, but we will be back with some cracking photobooks in 2019 – can’t wait!

Until then…
